LOOKING
FORWARD TO A SUCCESSFUL 2008
At the November, 2007 Board Meeting, your Board of Directors
unanimously approved the 2008 Business Plan. The Business Plan is put in
place each year to ensure we have a defined and well thought out set of
benchmarks, goals and strategies that help us to achieve the overall
mission and vision of the Cooperative. The Mission Statement of GVEC
reads, “Building on our heritage and having confidence in the future,
the Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative is a team of professionals
committed to exceeding our members’ expectations by identifying and
investing in products and services that fulfill the needs of those we
serve.” The Mission Statement for the Cooperative was updated a couple
of years ago and has helped keep us focused on the needs and
expectations of you, our member-owners. The items included in the 2008
Business Plan range from benchmarks that set expectations for outage
tracking, call center performance and competitive rates to strategies
designed to maintain financial strength, evaluate renewable energy
technologies, enhance corporate communications and strengthen employee
development. It is our belief that organizations that experience true
and ongoing success are organizations that empower people to plan for,
and respond to, changes in operating environments. The electric utility
industry is dynamic, and the challenges we will face with regard to
power supply, environmental concerns and competition in the labor
markets, among others, are very real challenges that will take
organizational focus and commitment to overcome. With that said, the
outlook for 2008 is positive, and our course of action has been
carefully mapped in the Business Plan.
