Outage restoral from Hurricane Harvey is nearing completion for the members of the Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC). As of 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, 175 cooperative members were without power. GVEC is working to have all members that are accessible back in power today. The remaining outages will be restored once flood waters recede, which include approximately 110 members in southeast Lavaca County near the Ezzell community.

“We are so pleased to be at this stage within only 4 total days of restoration efforts, three of which occurred as Harvey actively swept through our entire service area,” says GVEC General Manager and CEO Darren Schauer. “Today, GVEC crews, with the assistance of New Braunfels Utilities as well as various contractors, have done an exceptional job at working quickly, efficiently, and safely together. We will monitor the remaining outages closely and move in to complete the job as soon as flood waters recede in the associated areas. I know our members and employees are all looking forward to reaching the zero target. That point is very close now.”

Regular updates are being posted to GVEC’s website, Facebook, and Twitter pages. Members can view current outages 24/7 online at www.gvec.org.
