GVEC to Raise G&T Rates Beginning August 1, 2022

Your August bill (dated August 1 or after) will show an increase of $0.007 per kilowatt hour (kWh) on your Generation and Transmission (G&T) rates. This means the amount charged to G-1 & 3 accounts will increase from the current $0.074/kWh to $0.081/kWh. The average home in GVEC’s service territory consumes about 1,500 kWh a month. A monthly bill at this usage level will increase by approximately $10.50:

Rate Schedule Average Monthly kWh Current Rates Adjusted Rates
G-1&3 1,500 $171.73 $182.23

As a not-for-profit cooperative, we work with continuous diligence to avoid raising rates. GVEC literally belongs to its membership. There are no stocks to prop up, no quarterly earnings to report, no shareholders to appease. We exist to serve and to empower lives—not to make a profit. The rate you pay for wholesale electricity through the Cooperative never includes a retail markup.

As with any such decision impacting members, we will provide transparent, candid information about this change. You’ll find a more detailed explanation of this adjustment, along with additional context, in the GM Comments section of the August edition of our monthly newsletter, The GVEC Review. We’re also happy to take your call to answer any questions you might have. Just dial 800.223.4832, Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and a customer service representative will be happy to help.
