Each year, GVEC’s Annual Meeting offers an opportunity to reflect on progress, share updates, and conduct important Cooperative business. This year’s meeting also highlighted accomplishments from the past five years and the role GVEC’s strategic plan has played in guiding that progress.

The plan has kept us focused on the long-term needs of the people and communities we serve, including reliability, service, affordability, innovation, and growth. As GVEC moves forward, strategic planning helps ensure we are not merely reacting to change, but preparing for it with purpose.

As part of this year’s business, three incumbent directors were reelected to the GVEC Board of Directors: Lewis Borgfeld, District 2; Morris Harvey, District 5; and Mark Roberts, District 8. I appreciate their continued commitment to serving GVEC members and helping guide the Cooperative with experience, local insight, and a future-focused perspective.

Your Voice Matters

One of the most meaningful parts of Annual Meeting is the Members to be Heard portion, which reflects a key benefit of cooperative membership: members have a voice. Several members took to the microphones during this time, giving us the opportunity to respond to a question about data centers and accept a few words of appreciation from members who have used GVEC’s Port-A-Cool fans or had an outage restored quickly.

Your voice is represented by GVEC’s locally elected Board of Directors, chosen by and from the membership. It is also reflected in opportunities to ask questions, provide feedback, and stay engaged with the Cooperative throughout the year. I encourage you to continue reaching out with questions, comments, or concerns.

This open communication helps us better understand member expectations, identify areas for improvement, and make decisions that serve the Cooperative’s best interests.

Transparency Matters

When challenges arise, we are responsible for communicating clearly, responding as quickly and safely as possible, and keeping members at the center of our decisions. Transparency and accountability are essential to earning and maintaining your trust, especially when situations affect your service or experience with GVEC. Thank you to every member who attended, voted, asked questions, or stayed informed.

Your involvement strengthens GVEC as we continue providing solutions that connect, comfort, and add value to the people and communities we serve.

As always, I welcome your feedback by phone at 830.857.1152, by email at [email protected], or by mail at P.O. Box 118, Gonzales, Texas 78629.
