Peak-Time Payback Demand Response Programs
Peak-Time Payback is a demand response program that allows members to earn money for decreasing energy consumption during peak demand periods (or Peak-Times) with their eligible thermostat or battery system. Once enrolled, your thermostat or battery system will notify you of any upcoming Peak-Time events and then automatically adjust the temperature or power source to reduce the overall demand on the electric grid when it’s expected to be at its highest.
Peak-Time Payback Program With Your Thermostat FAQ’s
Demand response programs help lower the overall demand for electricity during peak times (days/hours the highest levels of energy use occur). The more GVEC can lower its demand during seasonal peaks, the more GVEC will save on transmission costs—plus reduce strain on the power grid. This translates to more stable Generation & Transmission rates for our members, which are the wholesale power costs passed through with no markup on their monthly bill.

Demand Response Program With Your Battery FAQ’s
Demand response programs help lower the overall demand for electricity during peak times (days/hours the highest levels of energy use occur). The more GVEC can lower its demand during seasonal peaks, the more GVEC will save on transmission costs—plus reduce strain on the power grid. This translates to more stable Generation & Transmission rates for our members, which are the wholesale power costs passed through with no markup on their monthly bill.
The following battery models are eligible:
- Enphase IQ Battery 3
- Enphase IQ Battery 5
- Enphase IQ Battery 10
GVEC will give members an initial $75 bill credit per installed kilowatt of rated capacity for signing up and another $75 bill credit per installed kilowatt of rated capacity annually thereafter. Members can receive Peak-Time Payback credits for each Enphase IQ battery, including multiple batteries at a single location.
For example, 1 Enphase IQ 5P battery is rated at 3.84 kilowatts of continuous capacity. To calculate your bill credit amount, you simply multiply 3.84 by $75, for a credit amount of $288. If you have multiple 5P batteries, you can multiply this amount by the number of installed batteries.
Rated capacity is your “Available Power.” You can find your Available Power on the Enphase mobile app or desktop site.
On the app, go to Menu, then System, Devices and Battery.
On the desktop site, click on the 3 dashes on the top right corner of the screen, then System, Devices and scroll to the Battery section.
Note: The payment amounts are based on current wholesale market conditions and are subject to change without notice. Calculations are for informational purposes only and the actual bill credit amount is subject to verification through the automated enrollment process.
