Nearly 85 years after our founding, delivering products and services to underserved rural communities remains critical to our cooperative mission. We’re still delivering affordable, reliable electricity to homes and businesses, of course, but we’ve also expanded to offer other products and services.

We began offering AC/heating products and services in 1968 as a way to promote energy efficiency and conservation to GVEC’s membership. Today, we offer a complete line of high-efficiency AC/heating systems from Champion®, Trane® and Maytag®, including installation. We also offer extensive HVAC maintenance and repair options—including emergency services.

Before 2013, our membership had inquired repeatedly about renewable energy options. We responded by debuting home solar panel systems, which save homeowners on electric bills through clean, 100% renewable solar electricity. In 2019, we added battery storage options. These systems increase the energy savings solar owners can achieve and also allow a home to stay powered during outages.

GVEC Electricians services launched in 2017, again after many member inquiries. These services not only address a need across the communities we serve, but have also proved a logical extension of our core product.

Over the last decade-plus, the state of rural internet has been similar to the situation with rural electric that prompted GVEC’s formation. Many corporate, profit-driven internet service providers (ISP) have entirely overlooked rural Texas or offered only limited service. This has created a serious need across the communities we serve, and the Cooperative has stepped in, debuting dialup service through GVEC Internet in 1998. In the decades since, we’ve evolved to offer wireless & extreme-speed fiber.

Delivering high-quality products and services is only part of what we do. We’re also here to empower and enrich lives—to help make South Central Texas a better place to live and work. Being a not-for-profit cooperative empowers us to more effectively achieve these aims. Involvement in the communities we serve is an important part of our identity, and participating in today’s parade is just one example.
