Base Power FAQ’s:

The GVEC x Base Power program offers homeowners reliable backup power. Through the GVEC partnership, Base provides whole-home backup during outages, which includes everything from lights and appliances to HVAC, all powered by a battery system installed at your home. The program also helps balance the GVEC grid, meaning members are part of the solution for their local cooperative.

Base Power makes backup power more affordable than traditional generators because it is paid by the grid. Because the batteries perform grid-balancing tasks, Base can offset the high costs of batteries and pass the savings onto homeowners. Instead of having to pay tens of thousands of dollars upfront for a generator and battery system, customers can lease a battery for a much lower cost. The battery system is maintained by Base, and all installation, monitoring, and maintenance costs are included.

No, you do not need solar panels to benefit from the Base Power system. The battery system will charge from the grid during off-peak hours, such as midday and late at night, when energy demand is lower.
