Happy New Year, GVEC! As we look ahead, I’m proud to share that GVEC staff are starting the year with a new five-year strategic plan—one that builds on our strong foundation and positions us for continued growth and durability through 2030.
For more than eight decades, GVEC has evolved alongside the communities we serve. From bringing electricity to rural Texans to introducing broadband internet and advanced energy technologies to a rapidly growing region, our Cooperative’s history reflects a commitment to progress and service. The new plan carries that same spirit forward—focused on how we can best serve our members today while preparing for the opportunities of tomorrow.
At the heart of GVEC’s strategic focus is reliability, affordability, and responsiveness. Our plan continues to emphasize investments in power supply, modernizing the electric grid, expanding renewable and distributed energy resources, and exploring new technologies—like artificial intelligence and advanced analytics—that help us operate more efficiently and make data-driven decisions for our members.
Equally important, our broadband and Beyond the Meter services continue to play a vital role in connecting homes and businesses with the power, comfort, and convenience they rely on every day. Our challenge and action plan going forward is to continue researching and investing in distributed energy resources and market strategies to ensure value over both the short- and long-term horizons.
Electric Delivery, Internet, and Beyond the Meter Services
GVEC is committed to meeting the full needs of our members and customers by bringing together multiple services under one capable Cooperative. Whether it’s electricity, internet, AC/heating, solar and battery, or electrician services—we want our customers to count on GVEC for dependable solutions that fit everyday life.
The backbone services of the Cooperative require thoughtful, comprehensive key initiatives to maintain a resilient electric system, enhance grid modernization, comply with industry standards, and support strategic investments for growth. For our dynamic Beyond the Meter services, our action plan includes building relationships and providing practical home solutions. The goals for our services include everything from pole inspections and easement clearing to expanding fiber internet and incorporating intelligent communication devices. We’re also focusing on installing, servicing or providing energy-saving renewable systems, electrical upgrades, and HVAC equipment. Our benchmarks measure system performance and response times across all these efforts.
